Does this happen with all the icon-packages, and which version of IP are you using?

Have you installed the packages through "Install new Package" > "from Disk" ?

Can you check whether (after installing them) you have a folder with the name of your downloaded Icon-pack in your "...\IconPackager\Themes"-directory containing two files (*.icl and *.iptheme)?

Both files R there.

You might want to try an older Icon Pack that was made with version 2.20..., if you can't get them to apply by right-clicking the ".iptheme" file > apply package.

I tried a package from 2003 and the same thing happened.

I downloaded a nice set of matrix icons from iconfactory, and wasted time making it into an iptheme. Next time I opened IP, the theme was there, but the icons were not. Same problem as yours, blank icons. The ICL had them, though

No idea what happened.

PS:I had the latest version of IP

Meowy,

If you can not update at this time, I am thinking you should save your themes to temporary folder > use IconPackager to (1) Restore all icons, (2) Rebuild Icon Cache > change GUI to the default Windows XP theme - then:

Uninstall, reboot, delete IconPackager folder in "C:\Program Files\Stardock" folder (where "C" is the letter drive), and reinstall the program.

You may have an issue with IconPackager not having the correct files or being registered correctly with the OS.

Other than what has already been mentioned, I have no ideas.

Okay, I'll try that.

I have no themes bcause none work.

Should I uninstall IP form SDC to prevent problems?
on Apr 16, 2005
Meowy,

Yes, uninstalling from SDC is the officially recommended method.

Don't forget to delete the IconPackager folder in Program Files after uninstall.

Note - before reinstalling from SDC, go to "File > Restore Archive..", and delete any IconPackager archive listed (this will prevent SDC from reinstalling the possible problems).

Will drop by later to see if you had success.

Uninstalling and reinstalling messed up my file types ibrary!

GoBack, here we come.....

Meowy,

You may be stuck with uninstalling and reinstalling via "Control Panel > add or remove programs" method. I have installed ODesktop off of disc, and was able to uninstall/reinstall individual programs using SDC - even though ODesktop installed as a package.

I had an issue with IconPackager when uninstalling, that left all the executibles displaying the "default unknown file type icon", and it was cleared up by reinstalling the program, copying a recent "shellext.dll" file (sent to me by support) - to IconPackager subdirectory, and editing the registry to remove a key that was written by another program.

Uninstalling leaves no ill effect now, and reinstalling works just fine (I always use IconPackager).

You may want to contact support and explain what you are seeing after uninstalling, and request a newer copy of the "shellext.dll" file.

If you want you can use "Run > type "regedit", hit enter > you will be in the registry (you can just look for now).

Go to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\icofile\DefaultIcon" (by expanding the trees and highlighting "DefaultIcon" subkey (folder), and make sure the data value is %1.

If there is any subkey (folder) other than "DefaultIcon" listed under "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\icofile" (look in the tree view), then another program has created a key there and may be creating a problem.

I know that IconWorkshop for instance, writes a subkey "Shell" with subkey's "edit" and "open", to the icofile key.

Due to the possibility that my recommendation caused a problem for you, if you want to e-mail me Email, I would be happy to send you the money for purchasing the current version of IconPackager.

Oh no, you don't need to go that far. I just used GoBack and am back to normal. I will try again and use what you just said to get it proper.
